I was very happy when Carol invited me to join her blog project which came about when she discovered the Weber collection and a little stash of bottles containing perfume she named Mystery 6T.
I've been spending a lot of time with it this last week and I still feel a bit lost when the drydown comes and all the flowers envelop me. The flowers are like my little lost friends that I know but cannot name. And I'm going about this all wrong. :)
Let me start at the beginning.
Mystery 6T will remain mysterious for me because I will never know for sure what are the notes. But I will forgive my little mischievous marvel because I don't mind letting it keep some mystery for itself when I get so much joy when it envelops me.
It's been on my mind for some time now, the smells of the seaside, especially down at the middle and southern Adriatic coast. The ambiental smellls there are different than on the northern part. The soil smells different, the plants are different, the air is more saturated with heat, it just smells different than the north where I spend my summers these days.
And that is where Mystery transported me - to the south of Adriatic, to a beach where air is saturated with heat and the smell of Coppertone, while there is a salty sea breeze carrying whiffs of spruces and firs under which people take cover from the sun.
I suppose this is quite a strong hint that I like my little Mystery? :)
I don't think I'm transporting anyone near me though. Not that I mind, I like some solace when enjoying the company of such a mysterious friend.

And, if you are interested in having a little Mystery bottle yourself (and believe me, you are interested) post a comment on any of the participating blogs as to why you should have a bottle of this rare , unreleased parfum and we will choose the most creative reply as the winner of a 15 ml , full bottle of Mr Webber's parfum 6T , one of the 22 bottles in existence !!
P.S. I just have to say this - this is where I found in existence what an aquatic note should smell in my opinion. Not that ozony, terrible thingie (I apologize to all those who enjoy Cool Water and the likes) but this salty summer breeze.
Ines, what a lovely and evocative post! You've opened up a new window for me...when I wear Mystery 6T I think I will not be able to resist casting an inner eye to your part of the world and the Adriatic coast. Mmmmm, dreamy!
ReplyDeletethis joint project is sooo cool - we all are picking out different parts of this mystery and bringing them forward in our own way!
ReplyDeletebig fragrant hugs !!
ReplyDeleteThanks Suzanne! :) I love the way 6T transports me. I also read your post (it seems my chypre knowledge is practically non-existant) and I still wish you had a comment section available. :) Next time I smell this, I will try and look for the notes you listed (now at least I have some additional reference).
ReplyDeleteBF, I agree. It is cool reading different thoughts, especially since we were all doing this blindly. :) And the more I read what everyone thought, I realize I smelled a lot of that but some went unprocessed by my mind.

ReplyDeleteI wrote this perfume didn't have a story, and you've been doing just what should happen with perfume: filling it with your own memories!
ReplyDeleteHow beautiful, that 6T took you on a magic carpet ride to a much-loved place. Reading your post, I feel as though I took the journey with you-- and I thank you!
ReplyDelete:) Meg
Carmencanada, I've been actually thinking about that lately - some perfumes evoke a story in me, and then there are some that I can't get past the notes and read anything more from them (that's how I know which ones are keepers). :)
ReplyDeleteThank you Meg. It really makes me happy when I'm able to convey my thoughts in a manner that can take people with me. :)
ReplyDeleteBloody Frida sums up this project perfectly: you are "picking out different parts of this mystery" and giving them your own spin, following where your noses lead.
ReplyDeleteI especially enjoyed your travelogue take on 6F, Ines. That scent could do some serious damage to the package holiday business!
FS, thank you and you're right (I mean BF is right). ;)
ReplyDeleteThe way each of us has found something else in this - it's fun to read what people sniff in this little mysterious bottle and I now seem to have broadened my take on it as well.
This is sounding more and more intriguing. Yet another reason to complete my perfume 'room'. An unknown vintage.....what a lovely concept. Like a bouquet of cellos.

What a nice way of putting it Musette. :)
ReplyDeleteThis one would fit nicely into any perfume room.
I love a mystery, and that is why I would love to win a bottle of this mystery perfume. The imagery of going from the hot summer sun to the cool garden and the smell of flowers is so lovely! It is one of the things about summer time that delights me. This one seems to wear close to the body for most folks. I like that because most of my vintage chypres are a bit too assertive to wear in certain situations--like work.
ReplyDeleteQueen_C, this one can be worn to work without any problem - although I will decant mine into a spray so to check what some other of the bloggers discovered. :) Maybe then it will spread a bit, otherwise, it really is a scent only for the wearer.
ReplyDeletethis sounds fascinating, I would love a bottle to experience it myself
ReplyDeleteRose, it is fascinating, the fact that there aren't many of the bottles left, that it smells very nice and has a mystery behind it. :)
