Meeting a fellow enthusiast

Until yesterday, I never met a fellow perfume enthusiast in real life, someone who won't mind talking hour and half about perfumes, perfumers, notes, niche perfumery, what can be bought where in Zagreb, where is a good place to shop both here and online... It was only hour and a half because I had some other stuff I had to do, otherwise it would have taken longer. :)
We talked about what our favourite notes are, genres, perfumers, what do we think of the non-niche stuff, we smelled the samples we had with us, discusse why some things are just unbelievably expensive...
The time just flew by and there are so many things we didn't even touch (so much left for the next time, and the time after that...)

Ankica is this lovely, vivacious, smiling young woman full of creative energy and ideas. And her ideas are not limited to her work, she was happily pointing out things I could do with my blog if I wanted to give it more time and effort. You never know, I just might listen to some of her advice.

What's great in all this is the fact that Ankica is interested in creating her own perfumes and has already given me some of her creations to try. She has a much deeper knowledge of basic ingredients and how to mix them to get some wonderful results - I am totally in love with one of the creations she gave me to try, I really like one other and the third I tried is just not me, but there are more hidden gems in the little bag of samples she gave me so I'm already looking forward to trying them all out.
And I'm also looking forward to the next time we sit down surrounded by samples and enjoy some mutually enthusiastic company. :)

  1. What do you mean: you "might listen" - of course you gonna listen my advice! :) Your writing is great, your curiosity is enormous and I am sure that you will make all your perfume/novels/pilates dreams come true! :D

  2. Ah how lovely- I have only met fellow enthusiasts on courses and that's a bit different- but still so fun!

I have met real life bloggers, was slightly terrified but actually it's brilliant- people you like online you like in real life. i would love to meet more people!

  3. Thanks Ankica! :) If you are going to be spurring me on, I might not have other choice than to make my dreams come true (and goes back to you as well).

  4. Rose, I think if I met real life bloggers whose blogs I regularly read, I'd be a bit terrified as well. But that wouldn't stop (never has before).
I just wish I lived someplace where people who love perfumes aren't so far in between.

  5. Oh, that sounds so cool. I'm jealous. I've met one and only one perfume enthusiast in real life, but we were at a dinner table with six other people, so we tragically had to occasionally talk about something other than perfume. :)

  6. That's really ironic CF. :)
You know, until now I didn't realize how much I atually wanted to discuss this with someone and that I actually missed that in life.
We should all have another enthusiast in life to share this with.

  9. Sandy, thank you for the kind words.
Now that I know what's it like to have someone to talk perfume to, I wish it on all my fellow perfumistas. :)

  10. How great not just to meet a fellow enthusiast, but one who is producing her own scents!

I feel I have been spoilt in terms of these sort of encounters, from two Basenotes events in London to eight separate sniffing sessions with British, German, Italian, Swiss and Slovakian perfumistas. And I hope to catch up with some of my virtual fumehead friends in other countries too one day!

  11. Yes, you have been spoilt! :) I've been jealous of your encounters.
I also hope that I will be traveling a bit more in the future and thus be able to meet in real life some of the wonderful people from the perfume community.
