Little help needed

I hope someone can offer advice on a good tinted moisturizer. :)

So far, I've been using Dior's Hydra Life Tint which is a really great tinted moisturizer but I'm getting low and will have to buy a new one so I wanted to ask for recommendations as this one is a bit too dark for me even in the most light shade.

In case I can't find anything better, I'll go again with this one but as I like to try new things, I'd rather try something new (even though I know this one works great). :)
Yes, I'm very fickle and flighty when it comes to cosmetics.

I also noticed that tinted moisturizers work better for me than regular foundations, in winter, I need more moisture with the cold outside and in the summer, it gives me a  lighter feeling on my skin when the heat hits.

On an unrelated notes, as of yesterday, Croatian citizens said yes to European Union and Croatia is to join in the summer of 2013.
(which basically means I'll be able to order Serge Lutens perfumes without any problems!) :D

  1. Congrats on the EU vote - when LT did it in 2002, many of us were frightened on how it will end. All in all, it was a 'yes' vote, and we've been members since 2004...

Ok - now, back to the topic. As a dry skin gal, I have a tendency to choose oilier formulas. My skin really loves that, and I think those formulas blend fantastic. I use Laura Mercier currently, and it is OK - but my all time fave is No.7 Soft and Sheer. Blends so well, I got into playing with darker shades even...
Also, Sisheido has a good all-season one - but I can't remember what the name of it was..

  2. Under normal circumstances I'd say welcome to the EU but with the problems in the Euro zone at the moment I hope it doesn't turn out to be a poisoned chalice.

Anyway, I find the Laura Mercier tinted moisturiser to be excellent. They do pale colours which is great. Nars also do a light foundation which goes on like a tinted moisturiser. Clarins also do a great tinted moisturiser but the paler shades are very difficult to find for some reason.

Let us know which one you go for in the end. x

  3. The Laura Mercier looks good but feels a little heavier than a typical tinted moisturizer, more like a foundation. I like Clinique Moisture Sheer Tint (not sure if it will be fair enough for you) and have heard good things about Stila too.

  4. Ines,

I think you just have to give a try to Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer since I'm the fourth person who mentions it and only you will be able to decide if it's too heavy for your skin or not (it's not heavy at all for me, I haven't found a better one for myself yet - even though I'm trying, for the same reason as you ;) ). And they have very light shades. I wear Porcelain (the lightest) but you might want to try Nude as well. Also, if not for whinter, there is an oil-free version of it.

  5. Great news on the SL ordering!

I have looked high and low, but have never found a good tinted moisturizer for my skin. But, I do like Bourjois Health Skin makeup, which is a very light-coverage foundation that is very moisturizing.

  6. Welcome in the EU! :)

I love (and I apologize in advance for recommending it, but it is very good indeed) La Mer The Tinted Moisturizer SPF 18.
I believe the Laura Mercier is not so easy to get in Zagreb, is it?
Chanel and Clarins make very dark TM's only, not a chance for pale faces like us.
Bobbi Brown has a nice TM too and it is available in a very light shade too.

  7. Thanks Jolanta. :)
My skin is very dry on my cheeks so a bit oilier formula will work for me, otherwise my cheeks look awful.

We'll see about EU, nothing helps if your country's politicians are stupid, egocentric, hypocritical and incompetent.

  8. Beautiful Things, I don't know if the information was announced outside Croatia, but we are the country with the smallest percentage of people to go out to vote on the EU referendum.

Thank you for the suggestion, it seems Laura Mercier is a really good choice for many people. :)

  9. Thanks Elisa, I'll check the Clinique one.
Stila, along with many other lines, isn't available here. :(

  10. Thanks Undina, yes, Laura Mercier is the one I'd like to try the most and the one I'm most unlikely to try, like Birgit said, it's not available here.
I think though Nude would be the right one for me, Porcelain sounds a bit too pale even for me. :)

  11. Natalie, can you believe that SL is the only reason I'm looking forward to the EU?
We've had months of pro-EU (and some contra) propaganda and I haven't heard a single valid argument from both sides. A single one.

  12. Thank you Olfactoria for the welcome. :)
I'm not so sure I should be grateful for the La Mer recommendation. ;)Although unlike Laura Mercier, La Mer is available here.
I'm scared of even going to ask, but as I once bought a Sisley one, I'll be brave and check it out. Along with other suggestions. :)

I noticed the same thing about Chanel, plus the consistency and coverage are just not good.

  13. Sorry no help on the TM front but good news on joining the SL! Oh, I mean the EU! (Probably best to keep your currency though). Just think, those bell jars are just a little over a year away :)

  14. Ines, I have a low budget suggestion; It's called Madara Moonflower tinting fluid, is ecological and really amazing. It really gives a beautiful glow and dewiness to your skin and an even tone. I'll see if I can make a sample somehow. If you're after a matte tone, then it's probably no good though.

  15. Thanks Tara! :) I am glad to be joining the SL! ;)

I believe the currency is not even being discussed at this point and won't be here for some years now. Certainly not before we enter the Schengen teritorry and that is also some years away.

  16. Asali, I'm always ready for a low budget suggestion. :)
I just wish many of those good low budget suggestions would eventually be available in Croatia...
(sometimes it feels like I live at the end of the world) - I know, I really shouldn't be saying that, but I get frustrated over the lack of some things here
