Celebrations!

I like the fact that my birthday falls at the beginning of the year, so lately it started to feel like my new year starts with it.

I'm feeling very positive and optimistic regarding the year ahead, January has passed (it feels like a dead month to me), we are experiencing spring weather here (in the middle of winter) and I'm supposed to be getting a Kindle for my birthday (in a  few days). It really feels like a good start to a new year for me. :)

So, I want to celebrate it with you with a little give-away of some of my latest acquisitions - 5ml decants of SL Boxeuses, Shalimar Ode a la Vanille and Worth Courtesan for one lucky commenter.

  1. belated happy birthday! Mine falls early in the year too- in January. I quite like it too- it makes it less flat after Christmas and New Year and makes everything seem new.

I'd love to win the give away but otherwise wishing you a very happy next birth year!

  9. Happiest of birthdays to you, Ines!

(Ooh, and please do a post on the Kindle after you've had some time to play with it. My husband and I have been lusting after one.)

  10. Happy Birthday Ines!

Will you be downloading your favorite books on the kindle or all new books? You can get tons of classics for free. Looking forward to hearing more of your reviews.

  12. Happy Birthday, Ines!
Is it today? If so, we share a birthday! (and a perfume obsession, i think!)

I'm 35 today, and it's been the most glorious day so far... Sunshine, 40 degrees (5 Celsius), snowdrops and crocuses all over the place. The most gorgeous early, early spring day imaginable. I hope you are having a wonderful day :-)

  15. Happy Birthday --
I think people, who are born in the beginning of the calendar year have sort of a 'choice' - when their new year really starts. And based on how the calendar year goes for you, you are free to choose - to start it all on your birthday instead of the Jan 1. Love that!

January is a strange month, I notice (btw, it was a kind of dead for me too...lol). It is the kind of month when nothing is really happening - yet, in the new year; and all the festivities of the previous year had faded since. In Lithuanian January is called "Sausis", which means "the Dry one" - and I think for a good reason!
Hope you have a great 2011!

  16. Happy birthday Ines! I think you will get hooked on the Kindle ;)
January always seems to be an odd month, but this year I actually liked it. And yes the weather has been gorgeous but I hear it's not gonna last :/
    Have a great 2011!
    x Klara

  18. Happy Birthday! I'm sure that you will enjoy the Kindle - my son got one for Christmas, and it has been great.

  19. Happy Birthday! I too am a first time commenter, but have been reading your blog for a little while. My husband has a nook (Kindle competitor) and my sister-in-law just got a Kindle for her birthday - both love them. Once they get a little cheaper, I may get one myself.

  20. Happy Birthday! And a clink on your glass of champagne. As someone whose birthday is in early December when everyone starts to focus on Christmas, I envy your early-in-the-new-year birthday. The way the year has been going so far, I too am quite happy to declare a February start.
I agree with Suzanne that you should post here your impressions of the Kindle. Always interesting when those who regularly put pen to paper or rather fingers to keyboard write on another topic.
Thanks for the draw opportunity. Happy reading!

  21. *jen, thank you! You're having a round birthday this year. :) Is that how it's said in English (that's a direct translation from Croatian)?
Fresh start in my mind is exactly what I need.

  22. Thank you MIchael! Looking forward to another fragrant year in front of us. :)

  23. Thanks Josephine. Btw, I have a bottle of real champagne hidden away to enjoy during the weekend with a friend who loves it as much as I do (I'm not into sharing champagne with more than one person, I love it too much). :D

  24. Carol thank you! :)
And I'm eagerly awaiting the treasure from your Niche boutique to be released into my hands soon.

  25. Thanks Suzanne. :) I'll do a post as soon as I'm familiar with it. Oh, I can't wait! :)

  26. Hi Geordan, thank you. :)

I plan on doing both, downloading new books from some of my favourite authors (and some favorite books) but I also plan on taking advantage of all the free classics I find interesting. A new reading horizon is in front of me. :)

  27. Hi Alice, I'm glad to hear you love it. I love the feel of books in my hands, but I no longer have much space left for books, as I have a lot of them so this will work great for me. And green. :)

  31. Hi Jolanta and thank you!
I think I'm more in tune with the Chinese year (as their new year started days ago) than with ours. :) But it just feels right for me to start my new year period with my birthday.

I love the Lithuanian name for January - it does seem very apt.

  32. Thank you Klara. :)
You've been having spring as well I know - I'm thinking it can't last (it's definitely not normal) but I am enjoying the warm sun these days.

  33. Hey Zanne - you sure do know how to bring a big smile to my face and make me feel enthusiastic about what is to come. :D
    Thank you!

  34. Thanks KathyT. :) The more I hear about how people love it (and there is a lot of them who do), the more I'm eager to start using mine.

  35. Odonata9, thank you for commenting.
I did a comparison of what is available on the e-reader market and what are my needs and in the end decided to go with Kindle because Amazon has practically all the titles I read.I like Nook because they have the option of lending books which comes useful when there are people around me with whom I share my books.

  36. Thank you Lindaloo.
I'm wondering how long will it take for Kindle to reach me but once it does, I don't think it will leave my hands for several days (paper books will just have to be patient and wait for a while). :)
