A place where summer still lives...

This weekend I went to Split to attend a friend's wedding.

As I went there with my girlfriends, of course I had the best of times. I was also lucky enough to enjoy a couple of days of summer as Split is located on the Adriatic coast, south enough to still enjoy warm days when the temperatures are over 20 degrees Celsius and the sea is as well (around 22).

Of course I took a swim while I was there - I can't believe I could actually enjoy a swim in the middle of October and that the sea and air were warm enough for it to be an enjoyable experience. :) (actually, it was rather hot in the sun)

Here are some of the photos I took:

I'm back in Zagreb and even if I wasn't aware the summer is long gone here (the cold is a good sign), my morning choices of what perfume to apply would be a good indication - vanillas are somehow on the top of the pile. :)

  1. Nice! (And a great way to recover from your half-marathon the weekend before!) Hope your schedule is being to clear up some and you can enjoy a bit of a reprieve.

    1. Thank Suzanne! actually, my schedule is not very cleared up but I don't mind, all the stressful things are behind me so now I can enjoy the things I usually do.
The school lasts for another month and I skipped on all the sessions last week (but I went for pilates) and now I have to get back into that as we have another half-marathon scheduled in November and we are all hoping on improving our times. :)
The weekend was absolutely great - the weather was gorgeous even though the forecast was rather bad and I didn't get much sleep but I got to rest my mind and feel unstressed for 2 days. It actually feels much longer. :)

  2. 20 degrees in mid-October? Ooooh, that does sound lovely. Where I live, most of the trees are bare now, although mid-day temps still sometimes get into the teens. And I can tell it's autumn because all of a sudden I'm craving spices.

    1. Dionne, that was quite south from where I live (well, quite for Croatian terms, some 450km) and at the seaside. Zagreb is in full autumn swing - leaves are almost all down, the colours are brown and red and the rain is falling too often for my taste. I don't mind the rain so much, but I hate when the wetaher is all grey which is how it feels most days (except today when it was both sunny and warmish). :)
Aaahh, the spices! I'll have to wait for a bit more cold and then I'll be getting into them as well. :)

  3. Split lloks amazing! To tell you the truth I have had more than enough of summer. It is still 28 degrees in Athens and I feel bored of all my summer scents.

    1. I can believe it's getting boring not being able to switch to some cold weather scents. It would be for me I know, as I'm an oriental girl at heart. :)
And Split really is amazing - the old part of the city looks incredible.

  4. Split looks like a beautiful place, and your photos are gorgeous. I'm especially impressed by the water temperature of 22 degrees - warm enough even for me! The Pacific Ocean is always very cold, so I can only put my feet in it until they get numb. When we were at the beach in early October, they said the water was about 12 C, even though the air was 20 or more, so you can imagine how much nicer you have it! Now I have to go search for your post on your half marathon ... I see you're hooked, with another one coming up in November. Congratulations!

    1. Doc Elly imagine how people are spoiled here when it comes to sea temperatures that many consider 22 cold for bathing. Since it can reach up to 30 during summer - only not where I go for vacation. :-)
As for my half-marathon, I did a pre-post and after I just posted my status on facebook. I didn't want to turn this blog into my running recollections. ;-) As I started mentioning it quite often. :-)

  5. Nice pictures :)
It's still warm here (last two days it was up to 30C) but I know the feeling when you get to a warm(er) place from the cold.

    1. Exactly!
It was very cold in Zagreb the week before that weekend and I was cold every day only to arrive in SPlit and realize I can actually take a swim and feel warm while doing it. :)
Small miracles. ;) (although they tell me it's standard for SPlit)

  6. I've seen so many Adriatic Coast places lately. I think it's time to add a few of them to my must-see list! =]
